I started out on a map of Earth, on the North American continent all alone.
The only company I had to keep my military units at strength were raging
hordes of barbarains. My first job was to explore N. America and settle cities
in appropriate areas, spacing them out, just in case another civilization
happened to land on my shores. After building Marco Polo's Embassy, I was able
to contact my two rivals and, through the sharing of our world maps, able to
discover that both the Germans and the Aztecs shared the same continent, Asia.
I made pernament strategic alliances with them on my first contact, and it was
smooth sailing from there. Like myself, they seemed occupied with building up
the cities they all ready had on Asia so they did not appear interested in
across-ocean settlement. This left me plenty of undistrubed room to expand and
grow.
After building a certain WOTW (Wonder of the World), its increase doubled my
capital's production, thus leading the way to many more WOTWs, and sent my
power and Civilization Score soaring. I was always on the leading edge of
technology, with the occasional trade of knowledge with the Aztecs. I upgraded
to Engineers and my cities started producing more roads, railroads,
irrigation, fortress and farmland at twice the speed as before. Well, this is
pretty much what happened for centuries to come. When Caravans became obsolete
by Frieghts, I started setting up trade routes with my allies, 3 trade routes
to a city, carring assorted goods, depending upon the particular city's
location. It blossomed, and so did my Democratic government with D.C.J. Quick,
the President, at the healm.
Finally, when it was announced to me that I would be retiring in 20 years, I
stepped up my spaceship production (Apollo Program was already complete ---
so were the maximum number of SS Structuals). I launched it, three years after
the Aztecs had started constructing SS Structuals to their spaceship, and my
spaceship would "bolding go where no-one had gone before" in 2019 A.D., just 1
YEAR before my planned retirement! What a break, after shaving it so close.
After landing on Alpha Centauri with my 40,000 people still all alive, I
continued to expand my cities and influence to S. America, Japan (where it is
located in the real world), Australia and the rest of the Pacific Realm. To
this day, I am still continuing my building today, and maybe one of these days
I will have a war and eliminate one of my opponents --- but, with World Peace
still being maintained after the construction of the United Nations, by myself
of course, and two Democratic and one Republican government in place, we we
are looking to improve our own civilization's course of life, rather than
going out and destroying one another.
With the Persians, my power is Supreme and my reputation is spotless. If after
eliminating one or the other, my reputation would be repaired to it's best
very quickly, considering I have the Eiffel Tower WOTW. This is my Civ II
story. I hope you found it interesting and enjoyful.
